The Mike Weir Charity Classic takes place on Monday July 19th and kicks off the the week of the Canadian Open Championships. At the historic St.George's Golf & Country Club in Toronto Ontario, this event consists of a field of 20 teams, with 5 golfers per team. Each team will be made up of the following:
- 1 PGA Tour player
- 1 Celebrity
- 4 Amateurs
Each team will begin their round with a PGA Tour professional or celebrity. After 9 holes, hosts will change groups so that each of the 20 groups play 9 holes with a pro and 9 holes with a celebrity. Teams will be playing a best-ball format.
Tour Pros participating in this years event include Mike Weir, Anthony Kim, Luke Donald, Stephen Ames, Fred Couples, Camilo Villegas, Sean O'Hair, Paul Casey and Retief Goosen.
Celebrities include Samuel Jackson, Kevin Dillon, Jon Montgomery, Dion Phaneuf, Steven Stamkos, Rick Nash, Martin Brodeur, Tom Cochrane and Damon Allen.
