Golf Cart GPS

We recently ran a poll to see how much extra you would be willing to pay for GPS on your golf cart.  The results were 45% of you said you would pay nothing extra because you bring your own.  40% said you would be willing to pay minimal fees (below $10).  I personally love having a golf cart equipped with GPS and wouldn't mind paying a minimal fee for it.  But once I started thinking about it... why am I not one of the 45% who bring their own device?

There are several options which includes devices by Garmon and SkyCaddie, providing GPS devices specifically for the golf industry.  Also, with communication and software advancements, you don't even have to buy a new device anymore.  There are several applications that will run on your wireless phone (iPhone, Blackberry, Andriod devices etc).  Some people get a little up in arms about using cell phones on the golf course, and although I don't agree with taking phone calls while on the course, you can shut the phone mode off and still respectivly use it as a yardage and score tracking aid.

After experimenting with a few of the applications, I highly recommend one called Golf Shot, more details can be found on their website: http://www.golfshot.com/.  Golf Shot allows you to score your rounds, view statistics and share with friends on the world’s most-popular smartphone. View aerial images of your course and get distances to any point.

I'm now hooked on this type of application, and find it to be an invaluable tool while out on the course.

  1. I also use the Golfshot app. I have tried a couple of others (Golf 2010 & Golf Card), but they don't even come close to the ease of use and the quickness of telling me my distances.

Everyone I play with loves how as soon as the game is done, it automatically emails them their scorecard also.

  4. We have a website that features golf range finders. Do you recommend the laser or gps models?

  5. I would to add another line of golf range finders to our website. Do you have a recommendation other than Callaway, Skycaddies, or Golf Buddy. Right now we carry Bushnell, Opti-Logic, and Sonocaddie? Thank you!
