It’s that time of year again – The
Greenbrier Classic tees off between July 2nd
and 8th
at the well known Old White TPC Course, located at the outstanding
Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia.
To some, it may seem like yesterday when
Stuart Appleby won the inaugural event at The Old White TPC course in
2010. Few true golf enthusiasts will forget the nail-biting one-hole
playoff between Bob Estes, Bill Hass and Scott Stallings in 2011.
Stallings won with a birdie on 18 and finished with an overall fourth
round score of 69.
The 7,274 yard Old White TPC course was
designed by Charles Blair MacDonald
in 1914, but was redesigned and improved in 2010.
This beautifully manicured par 70 course
was ranked 42nd (out of 52) in difficulty on the PGA TOUR in 2010.
Even though it is one of the easier courses on the PGA Tour, the 72
sand traps, 10 water hazards and fast greens will ensure that the
pro’s will have to be at their best to go really low.
The Greenbrier Classic was voted the
Best-in-Class tournament on the PGA TOUR in 2011, and the 2012
promises to be even better! The 2012 field is stronger than ever
before and include stars like: Phil
Mickelson, Sergio Garcia, Kenny Perry and 5-time British Open winner,
Tom Watson.
With a total purse of $6.1 million, 500
FedEx Cup points up for grabs and 156 top pro golfers competing, the
2012 Greenbrier Classic promises to deliver high quality golf and
great excitement!
The off-course entertainment will also add to the excitement, with three special concerts featuring: Toby Keith with special guest Lionel Richie, Rod Stewart with special guest The Fray, as well as the ever-popular Bon Jovi!
