ORLANDO, Fla., Dec. 18, 2013 –
Team Rice (Jerry Rice, Emily Talley and Isaac Sanchez) defeated Team
Doleman (Chris Doleman, Shannon Fish and Brian Cooper) 1-up in a
dramatic series of individual match play competitions on Tuesday’s
season finale of BIG BREAK NFL PUERTO RICO, Golf Channel’s 20th season of its reality competition franchise.
As champions of BIG BREAK NFL PUERTO RICO, Team Rice receives the following:
Jerry Rice
- $50,000 awarded to a charity of his choice via the Jerry Rice 127 Foundation.
Emily Talley (23, Napa, Calif, Big Break Mexico alum)
- $50,000 in cash
- A sponsor exemption to the 2014 ShopRite LPGA Classic on the LPGA Tour
- An endorsement contract from Adams Golf, which includes $10,000 in cash
- A four day, three night stay for two at the Dorado Beach Plantation Village in Dorado Beach, Puerto Rico
Isaac Sanchez (34, Folsom, Calif. – Big Break Greenbrier alum)
- $50,000 in cash
- A sponsor exemption to the 2014 FedEx St. Jude Classic on the PGA TOUR
- An endorsement contract from Adams Golf, which includes $10,000 in cash
- A four day, three night stay for two at the Dorado Beach Plantation Village in Dorado Beach, Puerto Rico.
Team
Rice also receives $10,000 in car rental credit courtesy of Avis Car
Rental and $5,000 in cash courtesy of Dick’s Sporting Goods.
“Not
only are these two great golfers, but great individuals,” said Rice
after the finale. “Right now, I’m on cloud nine. BIG BREAK NFL, this
is unreal. This feels like the Super Bowl to me right now, I’m going to
be honest with you.”
“Dreams
do come true thanks to BIG BREAK,” said Sanchez, who will compete in
his first PGA TOUR event at the FedEx St. Jude Classic. “I’ve wanted to
play on the PGA TOUR my whole life, and now I am going to get the
opportunity.”
“I’m
so proud of these two [Cooper and Fish], just how they played, and
their spirit,” said Doleman. “These guys have nothing to hold their
head down about. We were in the finals. We just finished a little
short today.”
Following
the conclusion of the finale, Golf Channel revealed to the eliminated
NFL legends (Doleman, Tim Brown, Mark Rypien, Al Del Greco and Marc
Bulger) a donation of $10,000 each to their charities for participating
in BIG BREAK NFL PUERTO RICO.
Taking
place at Dorado Beach Resort in Dorado Beach, Puerto Rico, BIG BREAK
NFL PUERTO RICO was contested on the resort’s historic East Course.
Golf Channel’s BIG BREAK reality competition series returns for its 21st season in February, 2014. BIG BREAK FLORIDA will feature 12 female aspiring professionals competing to make their lifelong dreams of playing alongside the world’s top golfers come true.
