Golf... It's more than just a Game

Golf is a game that many of us have enjoyed on multiple levels for a lot of years.  For some it provides a source of exercise, others indulge for the mental stimulation and others just for the camaraderie amongst friends.   Although there are many things to appreciate about the game, the most amazing thing has to be the way golf gives back to community and social development.

The PGA Tour has developed a global initiative, "Together anything's possible" in order to build a community of tournaments, players, charities, sponsors, partners, volunteers and fans who are committed to making a social investment by helping others.

Making a positive impact in communities where PGA TOUR tournaments are held and players live has always been an essential element of the TOUR’s charitable mission.  Through their website www.pgatour.com/together, you’ll be able to join others to share ideas, stories and support while expanding the reach of what each of us can do alone.

The players, partners, sponsors, volunteers and fans of the PGA TOUR, Champions Tour and Nationwide Tour team up off the golf course to contribute millions of dollars to thousands of local charities each year. The majority of the funds raised are directed back into the local community where the tournament is held. This means that there isn’t one specific beneficiary of the PGA TOUR. Instead there are nearly 3,000 charities and countless individuals worldwide who are touched by the TOUR’s goal of giving back.

I encourage you to visit their website (www.pgatour.com/together) and discover the amazing things happening throughout the golf community.  The stories are truly amazing and encouraging and there are several ways for everyone to get involved.

One of the most unique opportunities that exists is through an amazing organization called Caddy For A Cure.   For those who haven't heard, Caddy for a Cure is a way for you to enjoy the experience of a lifetime by caddying for a PGA TOUR or LPGA Professional while benefiting the Fanconi Anemia Research Fund, the Wounded Warrior Project, and many other worthy charities...

For more information visit: www.caddyforacure.org or follow them on facebook.

An easy way for anyone to show their support for Caddy for a Cure and other worthy charities by purchasing  a $3 DriveHard golf wristband.  Not only will the funds go towards great causes, but wearing it will go a long way in creating the much needed awareness.  Visit www.drivehard.org for more information.
