The Humana Challenge is one of golfs most exciting spectator events due largely to the incorporation of the celebrity pro-am format. In 2013, the list of players and the list of celebrities is enough to keep any sports enthusiast entertained. Celebrities playing in this years event include, Anthony Anderson, Ronde Barber, Michael Bolton, Alice Cooper and Alfonso Ribeiro.
As if these celebrities alone aren't enough to draw view attention, the tournament is also chalked full of some of the top PGA Pro's, many of who are making their 2013 debuts. As always, I've evaluated the field and have attempted to narrow down my top picks which include:
Webb Simpson (@webbsimpson1): Tied for 20th at Waialae despite ranking outside the top 35 in fairways hit (T51), greens in regulation (T38) and strokes gained-putting (44th). Returns to the Humana after a one-year break. Placed T13 in 2011; also T5 in his debut in 2009.
Brandt Snedeker (@brandtsnedeker): Took a week off after a solo third at Kapalua. Two top 10s in his last three appearances at the Humana, including a T8 last year, his first of seven top 10s en route to the FedExCup title. Ranked second in the all-around at this event in 2012.
Graham DeLaet (@grahamdelaet): Along with several other Canadian golfers, Graham made his season debut last week at the Sony Open in Hawaii. Unfortunately, he didn't make the cut, however I think he'll be looking to redeem himself this week in California.
Bo Van Pelt (@bovanpelt): While it's been four years since he finished T5 here (and hasn't cracked the top 25 since), he deserves inclusion on firepower alone. The birdie machine also wrapped up 2012 with five consecutive top 10, including a win, a T2 and a solo third.
