The Bridgestone Invitational gets underway this week, which means its time for us to take a look at the venue, event details and the field...
As always the tournament will be held at the Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio. Playing as a par 70 and 7,400 yards, the course looks to be in great shape. Judging from the weather forecast today, keeping hydrated on the course will be important factor as the sun looks like it will be beating down over the coming days and into the weekend.
We've got another world class field signed up for this tournament and I've been doing my due diligence and here are a few players I'll be keeping an eye on:
BUBBA WATSON. The Masters champ has had a lot on his plate lately, yet he seems to be handling it well. He was runner-up in Hartford, and managed a T23 at the British Open. He's also played well at this course in the past.
LUKE DONALD. He tied for second a year ago and has three top-10s in seven starts at Firestone. Plus, you can't go wrong with the No. 1 player in the world who is coming off a gritty T5 at the British Open.
RICKIE FOWLER. Tied for second here last season, ranks 11th in total driving and 15th in all-around. Has five top 10s on the season and I'm hoping a second victory comes on Sunday night
BO VAN PELT. Something has got to give for the veteran this season, with seven top 10s, including last week's T7 in Canada. Van Pelt isn't just knocking on the door, he's pounding on it. Had a T3 here in 2010.
